The High Plains Stompers perform all the hits of the 1920’s. Sometimes described as “Hot Jazz” or “Chicago Jazz”, this music is upbeat, energetic, and full of the optimism of America in the decade before the Great Depression . When you listen to love songs like “Here Comes My Ball And Chain” or “My Cutey’s Due At Two To Two Today”, you will be transported to those simpler times. Other tunes, like “Never Swat A Fly” or “Go Wash An Elephant (When You Want To Do Something Big)” showcase the humor of the times. This music includes elements of the ragtime sound that was popular in the early 1900’s, and it bridges the musical gap to the Big Band sounds that became popular in the late ’30s. This music is rarely performed because the original arrangements are difficult to find, yet the High Plains Stompers have a large library and can keep an audience entertained for hours.
